Trek-LiveStrong Rider Taylor Phinney wins Stage 3 of the Tour of Utah
In Friday night’s Tour of Utah Individual Time Trial, riders completed a 9.2-mile course around the Miller Motorsports Park.
Taylor Phinney, who won the prologue of the Tour of Utah, had stated that he was eying the time trial all week. He set the bar high with a time of 16:46 around the course, quickly establishing the time to beat. Phinney managed to average just under 33 mph around the course.
When Alex Dowsett rode, he came in relatively close to Phinney with a time of 17:02, placing him as the third fastest rider around the course for the time being. The only person that could push Alex out of the top three would be RadioShack/Mellow Johnny’s rider, Levi Leipheimer.
When race leader Levi Leipheimer came across the finish, he was two seconds behind Phinney. Phinney managed to maintain his top spot around this fast course and won his second stage of the Tour of Utah. Levi was able to hold on to the leader’s jersey.
