Tour de France 2010 Predictions

Tour de France 2010 Predictions

As the Tour starts, here are some things that I think will happen.

Top 10
1. Alberto Contador – Best at climbing and best time trialing means you win the Tour
2. Lance Armstrong - Think he wins if there was a Team Time Trial.
3. Frank Schleck – Climbs almost as fast as Contador but fails in the TTs.
4. Levi Leipheimer – Solid in all stages of the Tour if he can stay off the deck and out of the hospital.
5. Cadel Evans – Should have won the 08 Tour.
6. Samuel Sanchez – First step towards a possible podium place in the next few years
7. Denis Menchov – finally figures out the Tour, kinda.
8. Christian Vande Velde – Stud, even when he is hurt.
9. Janez Brajkovic – Looks for a podium but Tour will be one week too long and hard.
10. Bradley Wiggins – Think last year was a fluke. I might be wrong but I don’t think so.

Team RadioShack will win the team classification with 5 riders in the top 25 (Armstrong, Leipheimer, Brajkovic, Andreas Kloden and Chris Horner).

Green jersey goes to Tyler Farrar in a close battle with Mark Cavendish. Cav should win it but he blows it with a dumb move sometime in the tour.

Some Frenchmen from either FDJ or AG2R will be the KOM in the first week. And a Spaniard will win it in the end.

Fabian Cancellara will win a Time Trial and a road stage ( Stage 3?).

Brajkovic could be the darkhorse of RadioShack.

Sandy Casar will be in at least two breakaways.

George Hincapie will get my hopes up twice and blow it both times.

Thomas Vockler will win a stage, but the best placed Frenchmen will be lucky to break the top 15.

There will be crashes the first week.
And one of my top ten will be out before we smell a mountain.

There will be a break that survives in between the Alps and Pyrenees because everyone is too tired to chase it down.

Mark Cavendish will win 3 stages but not the first sprint and not the last sprint on the Champs-Élysées.

And last but not least… most of predictions, if not all of them will be wrong.
