Tomas Vaitkus, the Lithuanian rider, was one of the seven riders making up Team Radioshack’s squad for the Santos Tour Down Under. Known as a well established Classics rider, Vaitkus’ biggest moment of this year’s Tour Down Under came at the end of stage four. This was the longest stage of this year’s Tour Down Under. With less than 15 kilometers to go on the stage, Vaitkus, along with Lance Armstrong, mounted a final attack. Their breakaway built up to a 23 second lead on the peloton before being brought back in. Vaitkus’ ride on stage four helped him jump nearly 30 spots in the general overall classification. He held onto this jump and ended the Tour Down Under in 43rd place.
