While I agree with the two earlier posts, it should be emphasized that it is most likely that pro cyclists wear helmets because they’re required to. Take a look at some old video clips (say, 2003) of the Tour. Eight years after the tragic death of Fabio and helmets are still absent in the mountains. Does anyone recall the childish “protests” cyclists used to stage declaring helmet use was a personal choice? Of course children should wear helmets, and of course we (parents,adults) should be modeling the correct behavior. I love the earlier suggestion that a statement like, “helmets save lives” be put on Team Radio Shack jerseys. Front and center. Back, too.
