Team RadioShack has just given us die-hard fans a sneak preview of its new jersey for our inaugural racing season and it looks great! Tell me Lance Armstrong doesn’t look great in that thing. Now before you go out and buy matching helmets, socks, gloves, water bottles, repaint your bike and get tattoos we have to place a cautionary note here – this is a working prototype of the jersey whose final design is not be revealed until the Santos Tour Down Under in Australia staring January 19th. However, it’s apparent that this design is pretty close to the real deal that you’ll be watching as the boys start to make their presence felt in the first race of the season. In fact we hear the boys are wearing similar kits right now in Arizona as they begin training as a complete squad riding in team colors for the first time.
They’re obviously as excited as we are about their prospects this year and it comes through in their explanation of the kit. Here’s the exact words from the official announcement, “It was our goal this year to create something visually distinctive and a look that was symbolic of what we feel Team RadioShack is all about: cutting edge technology, speed, strength, determination and a global message to LIVESTRONG. The experts at Nike and our partners at RadioShack helped to create this fast form-fitting design using various textures and patterns symbolizing the themes of new technology, global connectivity and community. We think it looks pretty damn cool.” A semi-swear word in an official announcement? Says one thing to me….they’re pumped!

Whoever’s design this is should not have used 2 completely different color elements for the shoulder/ chest area without transitioning. Looks like they sewed two different uniforms together. Where’s the full kit view, that might help ?

sorry but that is just wrong please put the person or persons who did this on anti depressants and then consult with a real designer who understands colors. if no talant is availabe just look at some other teams for ideas

i expect more from nike and a world class athelete like lance armstrong. the jersey is boaring….

The jersey just doesn’t look fast or hot. Someone else desribed it as boring. That’s about right. I would not purchase this jersey.

Way to much red – and a bad shade of red at that.

Looks like an ugly, ill-fitting pajama top.
Sack whomever came up with that design, and start over…

It looks like Lance is wearing a red corset over his gray jersey.

That is just bad! I would not even think about buying that jersey, even after market off e-bay.

The one Tim Roe is holding in the news section (black with the Trek logo in front) is MUCH nicer. I would not buy the current version. Try again…

They should use power colors. Something that stands out from the pack. When Le Train Bleu was riding, there was a feeling of dominance. The more colors, the more confusing the jersey. Keep it clean and simple.

The kit design NEEDS TO BE primarily BLACK or WHITE. Accents in RED, obviously. Gray is too subdued.

I would take the design fundamentals of the old USPS “Blue Train” uniforms. You want to beat the other teams just by walking into the room – sleek, clean lines, powerful, with solid strong colors… The light grey and light red does not look “dominating”. Just my 2 cents…

I like the colors. The design is clean. Probably will evolve into something a little more exciting along the way.
It’s a great start. Much better prototype than another US team’s many failed attempts, and I don’t mean Columbia-HTC, even though they received much criticism too.

I agree with all the previous comments because those who think that project of new jersey is not worth to be a casual pijama even are unfortunately wright. I don’t know who was designing it but if I was the one who employs I would definitively throw him out !!!

We both – my brother and me – wanted to have that last Boss team jersey but this one failed our dreams! Better change that ugly pijama and resign from idea of putting grey colour into it!!! We are waiting for possitive changes…

at the very least, BLACK would be better than gray

This jersey reminds me of the us postal team kit. The us postal jersey was fabulous for its time but come on guys. With millions to spend this is what they come up with?. I would prefer something a little more representative of the age we live in. I understand it is about brand identification and sponsership but this jesey is much too forgettable. I usually purchase one pro tour jersey each year but it doesn’t look like this is going to be the one!

Sorry all you arm chair designers, but I like it. I am not afraid to wear this one on the roads when I ride. Most of the kits in pro racing look like they belong in Cirque du Soleil.

Get rid of the red altogether. The top part of the jersey [the gray - silver] ought to be the predominant color!! Blacken the sides. However, “a deep forest green” [if there needs to be a catchy color at all] should be the sponsor – lay of the jersey. That silver, with black and a very deep green would give Radioshack the smartest looking kit in the peleton. And the yellow – arm – band [along with the sponsor 'R'] would stand out like lights.

I think the kit looks great, reminds me of the old Motorola team. I would definatly buy one!

I love it. I wish I could get matching undies too. Most everyone making some stupid comment needs to realize that they are viewing the front of the jersey, but most will only see the back of it.

How many pictures did they have to take to get lance to smile in it? Somebody must have said a good joke.

It looks like a shack. Why isn’t the R in the middle?

I personally love the new uniforms. I think that everyone one else on here just needs to relax. The jerseys are different than every other team’s, so that makes them a lot more cool. would you rather have a unoriginal regular – ole copy jersey? Props to whoever designed this kit. It gets an A in my book, just ignore all the haters.

Yea, I agree with the comment a few bellow mine. Very unimaginative, doesnt pop or make a statement. People love to watch the peleton ride by partially because of the bright blur of colors that shoots past their eyes. This jersey is very muted and boring, I dont want to sound mean, but it reminds me of a shirt you would find at TJ Max or something… Maybe you could just go with an all red kit, if thats one of Radio Shack’s primary colors. And also, people are right, it does look like two kits sewn together, or I would suggest, more like a red woman’s strapless dress pulled over a grey jersey, look at it, you really can see it.

I don’t like it – it’s dull and the straight edge along the chest is uninspiring. I like the one done by RaichuLAT shown in the Forum section (back in January) much better. I would buy that one, but not this one modeled by LA.
