Team Radioshack already has a strong Portuguese flavour, with riders Sérgio Paulinho and Tiago Machado, plus sports director José Azevedo. From next year Portugal will be represented even further with the addition of another Portuguese rider, Manuel Cardoso, who is currently riding for Footon-Servetto. Cardoso has signed a one-year contract with Team Radioshack for 2011.
”It’s true, after having negotiated we have agreed on a contract for the next season.The fact that I know that José Azevedo, Sérgio Paulinho and Tiago Machado are on the team has had a certain influence on my decision. The aim for next year is naturally to win races. You can’t promise you will win, but I will do my part in making it come true,” explains Manuel Cardoso to the Portuguese newspaper ‘A Bola’.
Manuel Cardoso is currently in Spain riding the Vuelta a Espana for Footon-Servetto. “I am really looking forward to Vuelta a Espana, and I hope it will turn out better than Tour de France, where I had to pull out after a crash.”
