2011 Tour de Suisse Winner and Team RadioShack Member Will Use MapMyRIDE’s Innovative Web And Mobile Products Over the Course of His Training
MapMyRIDE, the premier provider of Web- and mobile-based training and mapping applications for cyclists, announced today that Levi Leipheimer, current member of the Team RadioShack Professional Cycling Team and winner of the 2011 Tour de Suisse, has signed a two-year partnership to serve as spokesperson for its pioneering products. MapMyRIDE offers Web and mobile platforms that deliver a variety of training tools to cyclists from beginner to elite.
“Levi Leipheimer is a perfect fit for MapMyRIDE,” said Robin Thurston, Chief Executive Officer of MapMyFITNESS. “He’s not only an immensely talented and successful professional cyclist, but like MapMyRIDE members, he’s very passionate about the sport. And, Levi shares our belief that Web and mobile applications have the great potential to enhance an athlete’s training.”
MapMyRIDE’s website provides cyclists an array of valuable training tools, including an innovative route mapping application for tracking and recording daily rides, a database of saved cycling routes from around the world, various health and fitness calculators, an online training log, a newly launched online Nutrition Center and a dynamic social network where members can come together with other cyclists to share their progress and exchange cycling knowledge. The iMapMyRIDE apps for the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry give users the ability to map and record their daily ride data direct from their mobile devices. The mobile apps also seamlessly sync with the website so users can store all their routes and ride data in one place.
Leipheimer’s two-year pact with MapMyRIDE will have him utilizing the iMapMyRIDE mobile app during his favorite training rides and sharing those routes via Twitter and Facebook. More significantly, Leipheimer will work with MapMyRIDE to further refine its web and mobile products so that they best align with the requirements and expectations of the most demanding cyclists. As part of the development process, Leipheimer intends to test out the iMapMyRIDE mobile app at various events during his 2011 and 2012 professional cycling seasons.
“I’ve used MapMyRIDE’s web and mobile products in the past and found them to be a tremendously functional training tool for tracking and analyzing training data,” said Leipheimer. “I’m no different than most cyclists. I like to see the route I just rode and look at speeds, elevation and other data. And, since the products effortlessly interface with social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, I’ll be able to easily share my rides and training data with other cyclists, perhaps giving them a bit of extra motivation! But what was most interesting to me about the partnership was the opportunity to work with the MapMyRIDE team to further develop their products. It will be exciting to offer insights and help them better serve the needs of all cyclists.”
