The 16-team field for the 2010 Amgen Tour of California is scheduled to include Team RadioShack, featuring seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and three-time defending Amgen champion Levi Leipheimer, Team HTC-Columbia and Team Saxo Bank.
AEG, owner and operator of the eight-day cycling race, announced the field Tuesday.
The fifth annual race begins May 16 and includes a race May 19 from San Jose to Modesto.
Top sprinter Mark Cavendish leads Team HTC-Columbia. Fabian Cancellara and Tour de France runner-up Andy Schleck head Team Saxo.
Other teams in the 128-rider field include Bissell, BMC Racing Team, Cervelo TestTeam, Fly V Australia, Garmin-Transitions, Jelly Belly Presented by Kenda, Kelly Benefit Strategies, Liquigas-Doimo, Quick Step, Rabobank, Spidertech Powered by Planet Energy, Team Type 1 and United Health Care Presented by Maxxis.
“These teams, with the riders we expect to compete, represent one of the strongest fields we have had at the Amgen Tour of California,” said AEG Sports president Andrew Messick.

Stage 5 through the lower Sierra’s is going to be great too! With a circuit finish up and down the bluffs at Bakersfield College – sets up for one of the best spectator finishes in the Tour’s history! Bakersfield is only about two hours north of Palmdale too…easy access.
