Ivan Rovny

Ivan Rovny (born September 30, 1987 in St. Petersburg) is a Russian road racing cyclist who most recently rode for UCI Pro Team Katusha. He turned professional in 2006 with Tinkoff Restaurants later Tinkoff Credit Systems riding with them until they disbanded after the 2008 season. He moved on to Team Katusha last season.

A promising young talent particularly against the clock, Rovny has enjoyed a great deal of success in track pursuits and in team time trials in major competitions. He has already gained experience in both the Vuelta and the de Giro. He joins fellow Russian racing legend and now Directeur Sportif Ekimov Viatcheslav on Team RadioShack for the 2010 season.

His significant results to date include: World Junior Road Race Champion, European Junior Road Race Champion, 3rd in both the World and European Track Pursuit Championships and 3rd Stage 2 Giro di Basilicata Juniors in 2005, 1st Los Angeles Team Pursuit, 1st U23 European Championships Track Points Race, 1st Sydney Team Pursuit and 2nd Moscow Team Pursuit in 2006, 1st Stage 9 and 3rd Stage 2 in the Tour de l’Avenir and 2nd (TTT) ProTour Pioegentijdrit in 2007, 1st Stage 1 (TTT) Settimana Ciclista Lombarda and 3rd Stage 2 (TT) Vuelta Ciclista Asturias in 2008, 3rd overall GP d’Isbergues and 12th overall Vuelta Ciclista a Burgos in 2009.
