Dmitriy Muravyev (born November 2, 1979 in Kazakhstanskaya, USSR) is a professional road racing cyclist from Kazakhstan who most recently road for UCI Pro Team Astana. Showing his athletic pedigree at an early age (his father was a cycling coach and his mother an athletic coach) he traveled to Belgium in 1996 with his father to pursue a cycling career. He quickly joined an amateur team and began getting experience in riding one-day races.
He turned professional in 2001 with the Domo-Farm Frites Team. He has enjoyed a great deal of success in his country’s national championships winning and taking 2nd place in road race and time trial competitions several times. In addition to Domo-Farm Frites he has ridden professionally for: Mapei/Quickstep (2002-2003), Credit Agricole (2004-2005), Jartazi-7 Mobile (2006), and Team Astana (2007-2009).
A reliable support rider in Grand Tours (he’s completed 4) and a good one-day classics rider, his major results so far include: National Road Race Champion and 2nd National Time Trial Championships 2002, National Time Trial Championship, 1st Stage 1 Vuelta a Navarre, 2nd overall Tour de Normandie, 1st overall, Prologue and Stages 4 & 6 Tour of Brittany, and Stages 5 and 6 Tour des Pyrénées in 2003, National Time Trial Champion in 2005, 2nd National Time Trial Champion and 2nd GP de Villers Cotterets in 2006, 8th overall Tour of Flanders in 2007 and 1st with his teammates in the Stage 4 TTT at the 2009 Tour de France.
