Bruyneel announces Team RadioShack’s Tour de France Riders

Today Johan Bruyneel announced the riders for Team RadioShack in this year’s Tour de France.  He selected his nine riders stating it was difficult choosing out of the 15 candidates he has on his team. The riders Bruyneel selected were:

  1. Lance Armstrong, who Bruyneel stated will be aiming to win his 8th Tour de France. Lance will be supported by:
  2. Andreas Kloden, who is 2 time Tour De France runner-up in 2004 and 2006, both while he was riding for T-Mobile.  Kloden has ridden in 7 Tour de France’s.
  3. Levi Leipheimer, who has ridden 7 Tour de France’s. He best finish was a 3rd place podium finish in 2007 when he rode for Discovery Channel.
  4. Chris Horner will be riding in his fourth Tour de France after missing last year’s due to a season plagued with injury including a broken collarbone, leg and rib. In 2005, he rode the TDF under Saunier Duval-Prodir, 2006 with Davitamon-Lotto and in 2007 with Predictor Lotto.
  5. Jani Brajkovic, who will be riding in his first Tour de France this year. Jani has ridden in two other Grand Tours, the Giro in 2009 and the Vuelta in 2006 and 2007.
  6. Sergio Paulinho will be riding in his third Tour De France. His other two tours were in 2007 with Discovery Channel and in 2009 with Astana.
  7. Yaroslav Popovych, who will be riding in his sixth Tour de France. His best finish at a TDF was an 8th place finish in 2007 when he rode for Discovery Channel.
  8. Gregory Rast, who will be riding in his third Tour de France. Both of the other TDF were under Bruyneel’s guidance at Astana.
  9. Dmitriy Muravyev, who will be riding in his second Tour de France. He rode last year for Astana under Bruyneel’s guidance

Bruyneel stated that Team RadioShack will spend the month of June preparing for the Tour de France.
