It’s true, a leader doesn’t have to ride for his domestiques, but it sure helps to have a teammate with you when you’re trying to bridge or jump, and nobody will share the load. It makes you look foolish for having made a selfish move too early. Especially when you don’t have the space to get far enough ahead, or no chance of bridging solo. Contador has looked foolish doing this a few times. Besides, if he rides more with his team, maybe they can help tell him when it’s time to eat, so he doesn’t have any more lame excuses for bonking.

Rightly said Roddey Cohn. The Leader does not have to work for domestiques. Lance Armstrong could not face it being a Domestique. And he went for the split in the early stages of TDF 2009. That was the day when I stopped being a fan of LA. I do not see how a team of domestiques can beat an Alberto Contador. No way. Good Luck for 2010.

Since when does the leader of a team have to tow his domestiques up the mountain or onto the podium? It NEVER happened when Lance was the leader of the team.Everyone worked for him period.

If Alberto let his talent do the talking instead of his ego, I think the whole situation would have been different. He’s a great racer, no doubt, but his attitude and his mouth are what I think caused a lot of the separation. You can’t disobey the team manager and drop your team mates and expect everything to remain kosher…

This team is looking good so far. Especially with the addition of a great super- domstique like Andreas. Good to see another American team on the scene; let’s just hope UCI grants them a Pro-Tour license. On a side note this bad mouthing Alberto is kind of lame. Let’s consider (Alberto’s) situation and how the team structure was handled by management. Alberto was supposed to be the leader until it got Bernard Hinault-ish. Some; maybe lots are thinkin’ it, I’m just sayin’ it!

Great to see Kloden and Paulinho join Lance and Levi. Should be one of the strongest teams in 2010. Lance can now prepare for TDF his way and will be ready to challenge Contador.

Andreas is a great addition to the team. I loved his climbing in the mountain stages in Lance’s last tour battles. Andreas was always in the heat of the battle, helping his old team mate Jan Ullrich. Unlike Vino who was not a team player. Reminds me of someone named Alberto this year. lol
